Why is the minimum stay seven nights?
The seven-night minimum is not a house rule but a requirement of the City of Cape Coral. The city restricts short-term letting of residential homes in order to preserve the character of its neighbourhoods. Shorter stays are possible only in justified exceptional cases and by prior arrangement. In practice this means the changeover day is yours to choose, but the stay starts at a full week. That fits the usual flight schedules into Fort Myers, which are built around weekly rhythms anyway.
Who is Villa Turtleview suited to?
The villa sleeps six, which typically means two families or a group of up to three couples. Two of the three bedrooms have a king bed and open directly onto the pool terrace; the third has a queen bed. The additional den with its air hockey table, desk and reading corner gives children a space of their own and doubles as a place to work. Because the canal at the end of the plot is not fenced, very young children should not be left unattended near the water.
How far is the beach from the villa?
Cape Coral itself sits on canals rather than the open Gulf. The nearest swimming beach is the Yacht Club Public Beach at the southern end of the city, about fifteen minutes by car. The well-known Gulf Coast beaches are half an hour to an hour away: Fort Myers Beach in roughly thirty-five minutes, Sanibel Island in about forty-five. Naples and the Everglades make a day trip at sixty to ninety minutes. A rental car is effectively a requirement in this region; public transport is minimal.
When is the best time to visit Cape Coral?
The dry, mild months from December to April are the high season and priced accordingly. June to October is humid and warm with frequent short afternoon showers, but September and October carry the lowest nightly rate at USD 150. The official Atlantic hurricane season runs from 1 June to 30 November, statistically peaking in September. Travellers in that window should take out travel insurance with appropriate cover.
Where does the name Villa Turtleview come from?
The name goes back to something the owners noticed. The freshwater canal directly in front of the property is a regular haunt of turtles, which bask on the bank or surface beside the dock. On the original website the owners describe the moment like this:
When we first came to our new house and went to the canal, we were greeted by these friendly turtles. And these funny little swimmers come almost every time you go to the canal … therefore Villa Turtleview!
